PRESS RELEASE VANTAGE MANAGEMENT / VANTAGE SURF FACES JULY 17TH 2006 MORE ....... SURFERS NEEDED FOR TV / FILM OPPORTUNITIES!! Sports marketing business, Vantage Management recently launched their brand new division Vantage Surf Faces. VSF was has been designed similar to a modelling/acting agency for surfers who want to get in front of the camera.
Vantage Management has been involved in the film and television industry since 1998 and in this time has been constantly asked to find surfers for film roles, extras, modelling, TV commercial and still photo work. "Surfing is such a huge part of Australian culture, so many productions filmed here want to capture the essence of this amazing lifestyle" explains Shan Railton, founder of Vantage Surf Faces. "As people know, it takes a surfer to play a surfer. Production companies now realise this and are only interested in casting surfers into some roles instead of an actor or model that won't come across as genuine".
This demand for surfing talent of all ages and looks has led to the creation of Vantage Surf Faces, the first and only surfers TV/Film agency in the world. VSF is proving very popular with an number of jobs being booked in the first few weeks of operation with more in the pipeline.
The popularity of VSF with producers and casting agents created a dilemma for the newly formed Vantage Surf Faces agency, They need more surfers in their catalogue!! Producers, casting agents and photographers love the VSF concept and have already started using it but they want more surfers to choose from! Demand has been for surfers of all ages and looks. Much of the demand is producers needing a range of surfers for their shoot, so it is not just the good looking people they require, they are after a good cross section of the surfing community.
Vantage Surf Faces is seeking surfers from all over Australia who are interested in on camera work, especially areas close to the production hub of Sydney. There are plenty of new faces out there who could turn their love of surfing into a bit of extra income and a bit of fun. Who knows, maybe the next Keanu Reeves is out there surfing right now!

Sports marketing and management business Vantage Management is breaking new ground by creating the world's first film and television agency for just surfers. Vantage Surf Faces is creating an extensive database of Australian surfers and 'beachy' types who will be available to appear in films, television shows, T.V. commercials and photoshoots. VSF's is seeking interested surfers from all around Australia who are keen to get a break into the tricky world of film and television.
Vantage Management has worked as an agent for T.V. and film since 1998. Their role has been to find sportspeople for extras, stunt and major roles in professional productions. A large percentage of the talent that has been requested has been surfers, it is this demand that has lead to the creation of an exclusive agency for surfers. Run in a similar way to an acting or modelling agency Vantage Surf Faces is only interested in recruiting surfers for their catalogue. "By no means are we looking for just young beautiful people" Shan Railton explains. "We understand that producers are looking for all types of looks and ages. In the past we have been asked for surfers as young as 5 years old as well as older crew, up to 60 plus". "Our aim is to create a one stop shop of surfers for T.V. and film."
Diversity is going to be the only rule for recruiting surfers. VSF is looking for anyone who surfs regularly on any sort of surf craft and is interested in trying their luck in front of a camera. Surfers of any ability, either sex, any look and all ages are invited to join VSF.
In the recent past Vantage Management has sourced talent for some major productions. Some more well known commercials VM has recruited for include "The All New Toyota Hilux", "Johnny Walker Rugby", "Panadol Surfers" and "Busch Beer (USA)" as well as a string of extras for major TV and film productions. This credibility and experience will be behind the new Vantage Surf Faces agency. It is anticipated that VSF will be one of the most popular agencies in Australia when it come to looking for beach image talent.
It is important that VSF finds talent from all over Australia as there are productions taking place in most major centres. VSF would like to think that we will have surfing talent ready to go no matter where a production is being shot. Being Australia wide will also ensure that all possible talent will be uncovered, not just people from the big cities. In the modern day world of communication and transport there is no reason that a person in Torquay can't be called for a photoshoot on the Gold Coast as long as the production company is prepared to get them there (which is usually the case!).
Travel is not the only perk for those who get parts in productions, the pay is pretty decent too. A minimum fee of $500 per day is standard and in most cases fees reach the thousands of dollars for a couple of days work. The largest payout we have had so far was for a surfer who was paid $20 000 for a five day shoot in Fiji, not only did he surf perfect waves with no one out, the production company also flew him first class and put him up in 5 star accommodation! Tough work, VSF can help you get it!
